Tamil Nadu Electrical Inspectorate: Procedure for issue of safety certificate

  • Upto 630 kVA – Electrical Inspector
  • 630 – 2500 kVA – Senior Electrical Inspector
  • Above 2500 kVA – Chief Electrical Inspector to the Government

Procedure & Documents Required

  • Applicant to fill the online form on the Single Window portal and upload the following documents:
    • Letter requesting issue of Safety Certificate (in Applicant’s Letter Head).
    • Contractor’s work completion report as per IS 732.
    • Copy of appointment order of SCC holder.
    • Copy of consent letter from SCC holder.
    • Item wise compliance report as stipulated in the drawing scrutiny report, if any.
  • Applicant to make the necessary online payment and submit form on the Single Window Portal.
  • Applicant to submit the test certificate of HV/EHV equiment in original if digitally signed test certificates is not available
  • TNEI Officer shall communicate queries, if any, to the applicant within 7 days of receipt of application
  • Notice for Inspection along with inspection date and time will be communicated via e-mail and SMS to the applicant.
  • TNEI officer will inspect applicant’s premise and issue a Defect Report to the applicant or inspetion report as the case may be within two working days.
  • Applicant shall rectify the defects communicated and upload the rectification report online..
  • TNEI officer shall review the Rectification Report and issue the Safety Certificate within 7 working days  online on the Single Window portal
Process Time Authority
  • 7 days as per the TAMIL NADU BUSINESS FACILITATION RULES, 2017

  • Based on Equipment G.O. (Ms.) No. 30 Energy(B1) Department, Dated 01-04-2002
