1. Every owner of a premises to which permission has been granted under rule 3 of the Elevator or Escalator Rules , 1997 for the installation of an elevator or escalator shall, on the completion of such work of installing an elevator or escalator, give notice to the Inspector and submit an application for a licence. The notice of completion of the installation of an elevator or escalator and the application for a licence shall be in Form “C” together with the following annexures.

(a) Completion report on installation of electric lift or escalator in Form “D” obtained from the manufacturer of the         electric lift or escalator or from the firm of electrical and mechanical engineers, as the case may be.

(b) Completion Report in Form “E” received from a licensed electrical contractor

(c) For the following fee, e-payment slip from the Government Treasury

1. In case of an electric lift with 5 stops, Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only)
2. In case of an electric lift with more than 5 stops, Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only)
3. For each moving staircase system , Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only)

(d) A copy of the insurance policy taken out by the owner of the elevator or escalator, including insurance for persons using the elevator or escalator.

2. On receipt of the application under the above rule , the Inspector shall arrange for the inspection of the lift or escalator within fifteen days. Further, if he is satisfied that the application complies with the provisions of the Act and these rules, the Inspector shall issue a license online in Form “F” within 15 days from the date of receipt of the letter.
